Remote Control Candle Set

remote control candle set battery candle flameless christmas gift idea

I absolutely love candles (I featured a few of my favourites here) and the stronger they are the better. But I don’t just like candles for the scent, I love switching off the lights and relaxing with a nice glass of wine elderflower cordial.

However, I will admit that there has been a few one occasion when I have been too relaxed and fallen asleep with candles burning. Luckily nothing has happened apart from me waking up hours later in a slight state of panic!

I’ve been using this Paramount Zone Remote Control Candle Set* and they definitely alleviate the issue of falling asleep with a candle burning and provide a really nice ambient light.

They each take two AAA batteries and are controlled by a remote control. They can be set to light or candle – the latter making the fake flame flicker slightly, just as a candle flame would. Paramount Zone says it’s a perfect Christmas present for all the family, but personally I think they’re slightly gimmicky.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like them in addition to my candles, but I don’t see the point of them alone. I’d definitely use them on cosy nights in with the boy as I do like the soft light. But they’re not as bright as normal candles – so no scent and less light.

Bottom line: At just £11.99 they’re cheaper than a Yankee candle and admittedly they’re nice to have around alongside my old favourites.

The Remote Control Candle Set is available from the Paramount Zone website, priced at £11.99 for three. (no batteries included!)

Gift Guide: Nip + Fab Chill-out Bathing Set

Bath and body sets make the perfect Christmas gifts and stocking fillers and with thousands of different brands out there the choices are endless! Nip + Fab Chill-out Bathing Set* is a steal at just £15 and encompasses everything needed for a mini chill-out session – especially around the stressful holiday season.

Bath Foam, Body Wash, Body Lotion, and a shower puff, topped off with a gorgeous ambience candle makes this a perfect gift for anyone who’d appreciate having a bit of time to themselves.

I think the candle is an excellent touch. Unfortunately it’s unscented, but when I’m having a relaxing bath I really appreciate the presence of a candle or two – scented or not.

Christmas gift rating:

Nip + Fab Chill-out Bathing Set is available exclusively at Sainsbury’s and is currently on sale for £9.99!

Do you know anyone that could do with a chill-out set?

Candles ..

I’ve always loved candles and room oils, mainly as my mum and her husband are very heavy smokers and I despise the smell. But not living at home means that candles aren’t a necessity anymore. Well until I won a giveaway a while back …

The lovely Lea from She Begins To See ran a Yankee Candle giveaway that I was lucky enough to win. I picked Cherry Blossom, which was absolutely gorgeous! [was – I’ve burned the whole thing now!]

Since then I’ve been obsessed and have amassed quite a collection of Yankee tarts and candles, and have gotten through two jars of Black Cherry and Fluffy Towels. I recently bought Country Lemonade (I love lemon), but I won’t use it for a while, as I’m going through candles way too quickly!

I was in my local Boots Clearance shop recently and came across this Cowshed Moody Cow Candle. The scent is quite strong, but I find it quite relaxing, so perfect for lighting when you’re having a bath or just relaxing on the couch in the evening.

You can buy these in normal Boots stores for £28, but I got mine for the bargain price of £8. As you can see the box is a bit scruffy, but the candle inside was perfect.

I went for an interview a couple of weeks ago and found myself roaming around Covent Garden and in front of a candle stand in the market. The stand was selling homemade ’Jam Candles’, which funnily enough are candles that look like jam.

I got cherry and lemon, which both look and smell like they’d be great on toast - and have a rather apt warning on the top, just in case someone thought they were edible! The candles are made of clear ‘jelly’ with pieces of fruit shaped wax inside. I’m yet to use them as I’m saving them (yes, I’m sad).

What are your favourite candles?

Another freebie post ..

It’s been a little while since my last freebie post, so I thought I’d let you know about a few more that have cropped up.
They’re not all exactly free, as you’ll have you pay P&P. But here goes…
First one is one I’ve blogged about before, but it’s an absolute favourite of mine so I have to share it again. It’s the Nivea Super Moisturising Lipstick in Big Berry. It’s not as dark as it appears to be in the picture, it’s more of a sheer pink/lilac – I’m wearing it in my sidebar picture!

It’s priced at £6.99 on the HalfPricePerfumes website, but if you click here and enter code freenivealippy at the checkout you’ll only have to pay £1.99 P&P. I’ve got two of these as I love it so much.

Next up is Rimmel Stay Matte Dual Action Concealer, available in Classic Beige or Soft Ivory – which of course are a tad too light for me. Haven’t used Rimmel Dual Action Concealer before, but I’ve read some good reviews on it.

Priced at £4.99, again on HalfPricePerfumes, but if you click here and enter code freerimmel you’ll only have to pay £1.99 P&P.

Last up from HalfPricePerfumes is Bourjois Volume Clubbing Mascara in Brown. This isn’t something that really interests me as brown mascara makes my lashes completely invisible.

This mascara is £7.99, but of course the same drill as last time – click here and enter code freebourjoismascara to only pay £1.99 P&P.

Next up is a free sample – and a bit of a weird one. If you head to the website and fill out a mini questionnaire you can get a free sample of Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment. Now before you click the little [X], wait …

Any tattooed ladies reading will know that this is perfect to apply on new tattoos to help them heal. BUT many a beauty blogger has hailed it as the perfect lip treatment. Anyone who suffers from very dry, chapped lips should give this a go.

Don’t be put off by the name, order a free sample and give it a try!

Next is a sample of Silderm Stretch Mark Oil. Perfect for pregnant tummies, or those unsightly puberty stretch marks. I haven’t received my sample yet so I can’t say much about it, but for free? Hmm, why not?!

Not really a beauty product, or a freebie, but 4Kandles.co.uk are offering a sample of their new collection – similar to the Yankee candle offer. You only need to pay 99p with free shipping and you get five different scents.
My last freebie, which again isn’t beauty related is this lovely set of Swarovski Princess pencils by ICE London. Click here to head to the website and enter code EGPN-004 into the search box, this will bring up all of the pencil sets that are eligible in the deal.

During checkout enter code MOS100 and you’ll only have to pay £1.95 P&P. They’ve experienced a high volume of requests so they’ll take a little while to arrive but they look really cute and I'm sure they'll be worth the wait.

So that’s it for my freebies, as always I’ll let you know when I come across more! :)
