Candles ..

I’ve always loved candles and room oils, mainly as my mum and her husband are very heavy smokers and I despise the smell. But not living at home means that candles aren’t a necessity anymore. Well until I won a giveaway a while back …

The lovely Lea from She Begins To See ran a Yankee Candle giveaway that I was lucky enough to win. I picked Cherry Blossom, which was absolutely gorgeous! [was – I’ve burned the whole thing now!]

Since then I’ve been obsessed and have amassed quite a collection of Yankee tarts and candles, and have gotten through two jars of Black Cherry and Fluffy Towels. I recently bought Country Lemonade (I love lemon), but I won’t use it for a while, as I’m going through candles way too quickly!

I was in my local Boots Clearance shop recently and came across this Cowshed Moody Cow Candle. The scent is quite strong, but I find it quite relaxing, so perfect for lighting when you’re having a bath or just relaxing on the couch in the evening.

You can buy these in normal Boots stores for £28, but I got mine for the bargain price of £8. As you can see the box is a bit scruffy, but the candle inside was perfect.

I went for an interview a couple of weeks ago and found myself roaming around Covent Garden and in front of a candle stand in the market. The stand was selling homemade ’Jam Candles’, which funnily enough are candles that look like jam.

I got cherry and lemon, which both look and smell like they’d be great on toast - and have a rather apt warning on the top, just in case someone thought they were edible! The candles are made of clear ‘jelly’ with pieces of fruit shaped wax inside. I’m yet to use them as I’m saving them (yes, I’m sad).

What are your favourite candles?
