Review: John Frieda Full Repair Range

I’ve been chemically straightening (relaxing) my hair since I was six. Naturally my hair is very course, and as a child I would cry even if my mum just touched it. Whilst I love how much easier it is to do my hair when it has been relaxed, it comes at a big cost. It completely dries my hair out. Well hello there, straw.

The John Frieda Full Repair Range* is designed to restore and repair dry, damaged hair – so it sounded perfect for me.

Although relaxed, my hair still gets quite frizzy – especially when it needs to be washed. I hate the picture below but I just wanted to show you all what my hair looks like before it’s washed. Frizzy, dry, lacklustre and completely unmanageable.

My hair is actually brown by the way, just very dark so it looks black in most lights.

As you can see it looks horrid. I washed it with the Full Repair shampoo and conditioner, and it immediately felt a lot better.

Before blow-drying I doused it in the John Frieda Heat-Activated Styling Spray, which contains Inca Inchi Oil. It’s designed to improve manageability and add long-lasting hold to your style. I was really impressed with this spray as my hair felt so lightweight when dry.

You can see the huge difference in my hair before and after using the range and I’m so amazed by it. I usually have to load my hair with lots of different products to produce these kind of results so it definitely gets a thumbs up from me.

The only thing I really dislike about the range is that the shampoo contains SLS – Sodium Laureth Sulfate. It’s used to create lather and it’s in lots of cosmetics and personal care products. It’s really drying and is something you should avoid if you’re got very dry hair. Obviously I’ve had good results with this range so the presence of SLS hasn’t affected me too much – that I’m aware of – but I’d love it if they could bring out a shampoo without it.

Bottom line: I think the results speak for themselves. I love how the products make my hair feel and look. They’re also very reasonably priced, with the shampoo and conditioner retailing at around £6 each.

Would I repurchase? I already have!
