New Year's Resolutions: Blogging, Beauty & Personal

Picture taken from Mashable. Edited by me.

I can categorically say that I’ve never made good on a New Year Resolution. Well, that’s not completely true – but generally speaking as soon as I say ‘This year I’m going to …’ then we can be pretty sure that it’s not going to happen.

Last year I set up LolaStar Hearts as a bet with my boyfriend. Sad, but true. I have about 5 other blogs that I’ve started but never kept up with – pretty sure I haven’t made it past the two-week mark – until now obviously.

So since I’m pretty much invincible now, I’m hoping that if I set my resolutions in stone here I’ll actually complete them – as it obviously worked so well for me in 2012!

Keep blogging into 2014 | Post at least three times a week | Comment on more blogs
Do more makeup posts | Get to know more bloggers | More lifestyle posts

Go for regular facials | Get an intensive facial peel
Spend more on skincare | Stop using sulphates in my hair

Graduate & get a job | Diet (!!) | Drink more water | Be less shy
Be happier
| Make time for date night with the boy | Learn something new
Looks like I’ll be busy in the New Year!
I think that they’re all achievable if I set my mind to it – as I did with this blog.

I'll do some update posts throughout 2013 and let you all know how I'm doing.
Happy New Year!
What are your resolutions?

Review: Salcura Antiac Acne Treatment

Any product that claims to help spots immediately has my attention. As I’ve mentioned previously, my spots are hormonal so no matter what products I use those pesky pimples will still pop up and camp out. I’d never heard of Salcura Antiac* before so when I first got it I had no idea what to expect.

I can’t even begin to describe how amazing this makes my skin feel. It’s almost like my skin is breathing. It’s so cooling and refreshing and feels like it’s really working. Obviously it couldn’t do much to stop new breakouts on my hormonal skin, but it did a very good job drying out spots when they did appear – especially if I’d picked them (I just can’t help myself…).

Pros

The spray is great as it’s obviously more hygienic than dipping your fingers into a germy pot. And the product is very nutrient rich and free from chemicals and steroids, so it’s nice to know that you’re treating spots without harsh chemicals that may have an adverse reaction on your skin. It’s also good to know that it’s suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

Cons

This stuff stings like a mother trucker if you get it in your eyes. It also doesn’t feel so great if you get it in/around your mouth and lips (I obviously don’t have a good aim). The directions are a bit too lengthy for my liking too. Spray face, massage face, spray on cotton pad, wipe, spray face again, massage again, follow with moisturiser. I don’t have the time to do this twice a day. However if acne is a big issue for you then I suppose an extra few minutes in front of the mirror wouldn’t hurt.

Bottom line

The ‘cons’ are mainly to do with user issues and laziness so I can fault the product itself. It definitely does what it says on the tin and is gentle and effective at the same time. Win, win. I would probably buy it again, but I have a few things I want to try first.

Salcura Antiac Spray can be purchased from the Salcura Skincare website and in selected Boots, available in three sizes prices start at £9.99 for 50ml.

This post is a tad late off of the mark, but earlier this month I headed along to the Mary Jane’s Bar in Aldgate for an amazing Blogger Christmas party held by Benefit Cosmetics – obviously not as good as #bbloggerxmas though!
We were shown all of the new Christmas kits that Benefit had just launched and plied with some very lovely cocktails and Christmassy canapés.

Grace from All That Slap, Ayshe from Discovering Beauty, and Ronke from Ondo Lady all posing for a picture.

The Benefit makeup artist also demonstrated a quick Christmas look using the products in the She’s So Jetset set.

There was also a little Christmas quiz and I was lucky enough to win a prize, which was the High Flying Glosses Set. And on top of a very generous goody bag we were all given one of the Christmas sets, so I also got to take home Fast Train To Fabulous.

All of the Christmas sets are currently on sale so head over to the Benefit website and take advantage of the amazing discounts – I’m eyeing up a perfume set myself!

What do you think of the Christmas Sets? Were you lucky enough to get one for Christmas?
